Kitsilano

Kitsilano, better known as Kits, is an energetic and active community that sits between English Bay (North) & 16th Ave. (South) and between Burrard St. (East) & Alma St. (West). This one time hippy community with wide stretching beaches and glorious views of the mountains, along with its close proximity to the downtown core and Granville Island, have made Kits one of the most sought after communities in which to live. The majority of housing in Kits consists of low rise apartment buildings and duplexes, although pockets of houses do exist all over the community. Although the housing and rental prices are some of Vancouver's highest, young families and students dominate the population, making Kits an energetic and active community in which to live.

Kitsilano isn't just a residential community; Broadway and 4th Ave. offer two very different shopping alternatives. Broadway is home to Vancouver's Greek Town and has many cafes, restaurants, and grocery stores. 4th Ave. is a trendier shopping area, with boutiques, organic markets, day spas, and yoga studios. Along with Kits and Jericho Beach there are also many parks in the area, the most famous being Vanier park, which houses the Vancouver Planetarium and the Maritime Museum. Vanier Park is also home to annual events such as the Children's Festival and Bard on the Beach. Other annual events in Kitsilano are Greek Fest, held every June, and the Vancouver Folk Music Festival which is held in Jericho Park. Kitsilano is definitely one of Vancouver's more exciting and vibrant communities, with events and activities to partake in all year round.
