South Cambie

South Cambie is Vancouver's smallest community in both size and population, it sits between Cambie St. (East) & Oak St. (West) and between 16th Ave. (North) & 41st Ave. (South). The southern tip of South Cambie is better known as Little Mountain and is Vancouver's highest point as well as its geographical centre, beautiful 360 degree views of Vancouver can be witnessed from atop Little Mountain. South Cambie is best known for having many of B.C.'s top medical facilities such as Shaughnessy Hospital, B.C. Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital, and B.C. Health Centre.

With the exception of the medical facilities, South Cambie is for the most part a residential community. Single family homes as well as low rise apartment buildings dominate the landscape. A number of heritage homes can be found in the northern section of South Cambie, the most famous being the 1912 Tudor Style building that currently houses an R.C.M.P. training facility. Currently the neighborhood is going through a drastic change due to the construction of the Canada Line, a rapid transit system that will link Vancouver to its southern suburbs as well as the airport.
